Pool House Design
The pool house doubles as a cigar lounge with French chateau and old-world influences. Feminine and masculine elements coexist to create a warm and serene poolside retreat. A large cigar exhaust sits above the main seating area to whisp away any smoke before it lingers. Built-in cigar cases with humidors ensure there is always a cigar ready when it's time. A full bar with plenty of seating is ready for the next party. The vintage mirrors and lights make this new build feel a little more mature. Wall-to-wall accordion windows slide open to blur the line between indoor and outdoor.

The pool house was my first full design-build project. I was in charge of the majority of the project management, regular site visits to assess progress, scheduling subcontractors, problem solving, delivery scheduling, etc. I monitored the project budget, issued change orders, contracts, proposals and invoices.

I worked directly with the client to make adjustments to the floor plan to better suit their needs. We worked together to develop the concept and design. I sourced finishes, furniture, and fixtures and designed custom millwork and select custom furniture pieces as well.

I like to include this mood board because I created it when the project first hit my desk. I did not know the client at the time, and I had never visited the site. All I heard was, "pool house" and "French Riviera inspired." The project didn't start for another year, and I had forgotten I had made this by then. Many of the details in this mood board are found in the final design, but with the influence of the client's personal style and the home's vernacular. It felt like a full-circle moment when I came across it again.
